As the industrialization and commercialization of new energy storage technologies accelerate comprehensively, "safety" remains the core factor determining the viability of technological pathways. As a pioneer and leader in this field, Benan Energy, with its sodium-ion battery technology system centered on "intrinsic safety," was honored with the Golden Ball Award for "Annual Innovative Technology" during the 2025 GGII Sodium Battery Annual Conference. This recognition marks the industry's high acclaim for the company's technical strength and industrialization achievements.

On December 12, the 2025 GGII Sodium Battery Annual Conference, themed "Breaking the Ice in Commercialization, Tackling Industrialization Challenges, and Expanding the Ecosystem," was held in Shenzhen. The conference, organized by GGII, is an annual industry event dedicated to promoting technological innovation, commercial application, and ecosystem development in the sodium battery sector. At the conference, Dr. Hou Xiaorui, R&D Director of Benan Energy, delivered a keynote speech titled "Sodium Battery Technology Layout Based on Different Electrolyte Systems." He systematically elaborated on the company’s focus on battery safety performance characteristics, from materials to cell design, and showcased the application results of its products across diverse scenarios.
Rooted in a safety-centric design philosophy, Benan Energy pioneered the development and application of aqueous sodium-ion batteries and further expanded its portfolio to include "long-life, high-safety" and "ultra-long-life, high-power" sodium battery products. These offerings comprehensively cover various application scenarios such as start-stop systems, UPS, frequency regulation, commercial and industrial energy storage, and large-scale energy storage.
The "long-life, high-safety" sodium battery features high energy efficiency, long lifespan, and enhanced safety. At 5°C, its energy efficiency exceeds 92%, with a cycle life of over 20,000 cycles. The battery exhibits no fire or explosion after stepwise thermal chamber and nail penetration tests, with a failure temperature below 200°C. Testing of gas composition after continuous heating of cells at different states of charge (SOC) revealed no H2 generation at 70%/50% SOC, while the high proportion of CO2 acts as a flame retardant, indicating high safety at the system level.
The "ultra-long-life, high-power" sodium battery boasts intrinsic safety, ultra-high power (charging and discharging at the same frequency), and an ultra-long lifespan. Its SEI-free anode design fundamentally prevents thermal runaway, with no performance degradation even after continuous heating at 212°C for 25 hours. At a 10C rate, the energy efficiency reaches 98.7% of that at 1C. The actual tested cycle life exceeds 12,500 cycles (with zero degradation), while the fitted cycle life can reach up to 200,000 cycles. Additionally, the capacity retention rate remains close to 100% after 25 weeks of floating charge at 45°C.
Market applications are steadily expanding step by step. Benan Energy's products have completed validation in MWh-level projects such as source-grid-load-storage systems and achieved continuous deliveries for overseas scenarios like photovoltaic energy storage. Currently, the company is advancing the construction of multiple GWh-scale production bases through diversified business models, continuously expanding its production capacity and global supply capabilities.
